About

Why Fundraise?

Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.

Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honor her means everything. That’s why it is important to do something.

Your support honour women and families touched by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope for a future without this disease.

Every dollar raised supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.

About Ovarian Cancer Canada

Ovarian Cancer Canada is the only registered Canadian charity solely dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer. We provide leadership by:

- Supporting women living with the disease and their families
- Raising awareness among the general public and health care professionals
- Funding research to develop early detection techniques, improved treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

What Your Money Supports

These are some of the initiatives powered by the donations you gather through your fundraising activities:

Support for women and families living with the disease

An online community, called OVdialogue, where women with ovarian cancer can ask questions, give and get advice, and meet others who can relate to their experiences firsthand

By Your Side and Still By Your Side are comprehensive guides to support and inform women who are newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer or facing recurrence of the disease

Expert-led symposia and webinars on specialized topics that connect and inform the community

The country’s only online support group entirely devoted to women living with ovarian cancer. This resource was established in partnership with CancerChat

Awareness and education

Funding vital research

Tissue banks that have helped facilitate recent research breakthroughs, such as the discovery that ovarian cancer is not one but several diseases that respond differently to treatment and have varied outcomes

Operating grants for projects focused on ovarian cancer. These grants are jointly funded by the Cancer Research Society as part of a partnership that has already resulted in a record number of successful applications for ovarian cancer research
