Welcome to my personal page!
We need your support!
DID YOU KNOW ... 2,800 Canadian women will be diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer this year? That's almost 8 women per day.
DID YOU KNOW ... Ovarian Cancer strikes 1 in 70 female Canadians?
DID YOU KNOW ... there is currently no cure for Ovarian Cancer?
FACT: Almost 60% of women do not reach the 5 year mark. It is the deadliest of all women's cancers. The statistics are shocking!!
In June of 2014, my daughter Bette Jane was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer after having only one week of unusual symptoms. Surgical biopsies revealed she had Stage 3C high-grade serous ovarian cancer. The 'C' meant the cancer was aggresive and had spread into the aeortic and pelvic lymph nodes; the cancer was growing as quickly as hair and nails do. Who knew! We learned her cancer was only months in the making. They say it's known as the 'whispering cancer'. The best we can hope for at this time is early detection and effective management of the disease.
Bette Jane had extensive surgery followed by 6 months of chemotherapy. It appeared that the treatments were successful and she was in remission. Without any symptoms the cancer returned during the winter of 2016. After another cycle of chemotherapy the cancer was again in remission. She recovered well, looked well, and felt great. After a routine CT scan last month we learned that the cancer had once again returned. It was a shock that it had returned so soon. Bette Jane has begun another cycle of chemotherapy which will continue into the new year. Now we hope for effective management of this disease. She is determined to fight this disease and remains very positive.
These "Survivors" all have family, partners, friends, relatives, colleagues ... people they care about and love. Together we need to reach out and bring awareness to every female so they are knowledgeable about this disease and know how to recognize any symptoms. With your help we will raise funds so that top notch research teams can develop a test that every female has access to, better and more effective treatments and ultimately, to create a cure for this deadly disease.
That's why I'm contacting YOU. Together we can make a difference for Ovarian Cancer of Canada and their Walk of Hope. Every dollar raised supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
I am reaching out to you personally by asking for your support. Your contributions will aid in survivorship and will help future women going through this journey.
Thank you for your consideration.
