Why I am dedicated to raising funds for Ovarian Cancer...
On Dec 31st 2009 my greatest fear came true, my wife and best friend, Colleen, was diagnosed with cancer. Not only cancer but Ovarian Cancer and we were told there was only a 30% chance that she would survive to her 5 year anniversary. Well, she celebrated 6 years as a survivor on New Year's Eve 2015. In February 2016 she went back into treatment and after numerous procedures she gave up her battle on November 09th.
In Canada today, there are 17,000 women living with ovarian cancer. Each of these women is central to a family, every one of these women have people who love her. This year, I am walking for HER.
I am walking because ovarian cancer affects communities. It’s certainly touched my life, and it needs to be stopped.
This walk is special to me because it honours women and families touched by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope that I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness and fund vital research.
Please support our Walk by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September 11th please consider joining our team "Roni & Colleen's Dream Team". Together we can make a difference. I hope and Pray that you never have to experience being told that you or the most important person in your life has been diagnosed with this dreaded disease.
Thank you for your support.
