Wanda's Walkers.....Walking for "Her"!!
It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years since I myself was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. The "magic five" my doctor called it as 1 in 2 woman diagnosed with this disease don't live to see this milestone. But I was one of the very few who was fortunate enough to have it detected at an early stage, most often it is not found until it much more advanced.
I thankfully can say that today I am cancer free and hope that I remain that way. However there are still thousands of Canadian women living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year. Each one of these women a mother, wife, sister, daughter or friend. Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her.
The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. So please, if you can, support me as I walk on Sept 8 for this very important cause.
