Welcome to my personal page!
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honor her means everything. That’s why I’m participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope.
The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
This year’s goal is to raise $2.1 million. Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, come out and join me. Together we can make a difference.
My name is Gaye Darbyshire, welcome to my personal page. I'm an Ovarian Cancer Survivor in remission almost 2 years & counting. It has been a terrifying, overwhelming, frustrating, & painful journey. But when I meet other women who are experiencing Ovarian Cancer as well, I'm always in awe at how brave, wonderful, welcoming & encouraging these inspiring women are. Also all the professionals & volunteers in Ovarian Cancer Canada, are always kind & helpful as well.
There is an immediate connection with all of us because we are going through not only a "life threatening" but also a "life changing" experience. We will never be the same again. There is life before Cancer & life after Cancer and it changes us forever. I want to do some good for women everywhere. If I can help to irradicate this deadly desease with fundraising then it makes me feel very proud & inspired to be part of this exciting Walk of Hope for Ovarian Cancer in Barrie.
Whenever I attend any Fundraiser for Cancer I always feel wonderful after because I have been surrounded by so many extraordinary people. I'm a 2 time Cancer Survivor with Colon Cancer in 2009 & Ovarian Cancer Stage 3 in 2015. I realize now that being part of the Walk of Hope inspires me to keep going & get strength from these wonderful events that are always filled with positive energy, love & encouragement. Please help us to raise funds & awareness for Ovarian Cancer Research. With your help we are on our way to curing Ovarian Cancer.
Cheers & many thanks,
