Mark's Walk of Hope personal page!
I clearly remember the last jokes I laughed about with Heather. It is surprising because there were so many laughs over the years growing up with my sister. And smiles. And hugs. And sharing in all of the joys and frustrations that life brings us. Those are the memories that I carry with me.
In trying to move forward from our loss, participating as a family in the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope has been instrumental. We try to get together to remember Heather on certain anniversaries but the Walk of Hope is a time when we make some positive impact for women living with ovarian cancer.
Team Pepper has been hugely successful with fundraising for the Walk of Hope for the last couple of years. Please help us again! You can donate to me personally (on the right) or click on 'Pepper' to view our whole team.
Some things to know:
Ovarian cancer is the most fatal women’s cancer in Canada. Every day 5 women die from ovarian cancer. Shockingly, survival rates have not improved in 50 years and it is because research has been grossly underfunded.
Between 2005 and 2015, the federal government invested $249.3 million in breast cancer research, $102.7 million in research for prostate cancer, and only $38.6 million in ovarian cancer research. With significant backing, both breast and prostate cancer have seen vast improvements in treatment and survival. Women and families living with ovarian cancer deserve similar outcomes.
Funds that you donate here will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
