Mark's Walk of Hope personal page!
Time is such a funny thing. We lost my sister Heather to ovarian cancer in October 2015. I clearly remember the last jokes we laughed about. Some days I have moments of thinking I can call Heather or visit her. I want to send her funny photos of my daughters and I know that she would have cherised them. But sometimes these last few years feel like ages. There is an emptyness that will never be filled.
Last year Team Pepper was hugely successful with fundraising. Please help us again! You can donate to me personally (on the right) or click on 'Pepper' to view our whole team (i.e. the Andrachuk family and possibly some friends).
One thing that stands out to me about ovarian cancer is how little attention it receives. As was the case for Heather, many women don't have early symptoms and by the time the disease is detected it is already in later stages. As much as I am doing this walk in memory of Heather, I also want to raise more awareness about ovarian cancer so that more funds can be directed towards research, diagnoses, and treatment. I have Hope that better outcomes can become a reality for women living with ovarian cancer.
2,800 Canadian women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year. Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Or if you are free on September 10th, come out and join Team Pepper. Together we can make a difference.
