Welcome to my personal page!
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
Each ovary is about the size of a almond. This small organ is essential to a woman's reproductive system by producing eggs as well as hormones. When cancer affects these organs it can go undetected early because of subtle and vague symptoms often easily dismissed until it has progressed to a later stage. This makes it crucial that strides are made in research and treatment to prevent and identify ovarian cancer at earlier stages to produce greater survival rates for women affected by this cancer.
Ovarian Cancer personally touched my life when my friend Catherine succumed to it last year. She was an amazing woman that I didn't have the chance to know long enough. Catherine will always be an inspiration to me with her giant smile, true zest for life, and genuine kindness. I did not know Catherine for a long time but I think of her often and continue to honour her legacy by walking with her team the "Teal Trotters". The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can help women with, or at risk of, ovarian cancer live fuller, better, longer lives.
Together we can make a difference.
