Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year. I am one of them.
I was diagnosed last October, had surgery in November by a fantastic surgeon Dr Jim Bentley and then in December I started chemo. I had 6 rounds of the “big” chemos and am now getting “short” maintenance chemos. My life is focused on the 3 week cycle of doctors appointments, blood work and chemo treatments and working to get my concentration and energy and strength back.
The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease. A future without treatments and appointments and getting my life back to normal ( and my hair back )
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September 9th, come out and join me. Together we can make a difference.
Thanks for your support and the support you have all given me over the last year.
