Welcome to Jona's Personal Page!
I have learned so much since being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July 2018! Most of these things I did not want to learn. Ovarian cancer is the most deadly women's cancer, with more than one in two women not living to see five years. As an ovarian cancer survivor you have a high risk of recurrence. These scary statistics have not changed in over 50 years. It is time to see some research breakthroughs!
This is why I have registered a team for the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope in Nanaimo. I encourage you to participate in any way you can, either by joining my team or making a donation in my name, or perhaps both. Last year, when still in shock from my diagnosis, my team was 17 members strong and together we raised $1,200. I have set my goals higher this year.
The support Mark and I have received from family and friends since this journey began has been phenomenal! There is so very much for which we are thankful. This Walk celebrates the hope we carry with us every day – the hope for a future without this disease. That is why we are participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope on Sunday September 8th. Will you walk with us at this family-friendly event at Rotary Bowl?
Every dollar we raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
Please note that the registration fee is $25. Tax receipts are provided for donations over $20, but not for the walk registration. Please click the appropriate link to register for the walk or to donate. Together we can make a difference for women and their families!
