My Personal Story and Battle with this Ovarian Cancer Beast:
Like so many other women, I was experiencing issues with Ovarian Cysts. A routine hysterectomy and cyst removal surgery turned into a devastating diagnoses of Fallopian Tube/Ovarian Cancer at 40 years old. I was immediately sent to London for additional surgery, and ordered to complete 6 rounds of Chemotherapy. I was put off work, and my life changed instantly. My life has turned into appointment after appoitment, scans, tests, blood draws and Chemo treatments followed by losing a week to the sickness that follows. It hasnt been easy, but I am getting through and staying positive with the support of my amazing Family and Friends. I couldnt do it without you!!
In honour of my battle, and the battle of so many other women like me, I decided to participate in the Windsor Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope. It's taking place on Sunday, September 8th at 9:00 a.m., which just hapens to be the day before my LAST DAY OF CHEMO!!!! I've set a goal of $1000, which I'm hoping to surpass with YOUR help. Donations are tax deductable and you will reveive an immediate Tax Receipt. Ovarian Cancer is sadly extremely underfunded compared to some other cancers. Please help me make a difference.
To make a secure, tax-deductible donation online, please visit my personal fundraising page and click "DONATE NOW": http://noca.convio.net/site/TR/2019WalkofHope/General?px=1565383&pg=personal&fr_id=1512&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Walk-Autoresponder&utm_campaign=solicitation_to_forward
Your donation can help women with ovarian cancer and all women at risk of the disease live fuller, better, longer lives. Here's how:
$35 allows Ovarian Cancer Canada to deliver a "By Your Side" guide to help one of the 2,800 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year in Canada
$75 supports advocacy efforts to further research of ovarian cancer to enable prevention and more effective treatments, and ultimately to improve survival.
$125 inspires leading minds to pursue careers in ovarian cancer research to help save women's lives
$250 supports OVdialogue, an online community for women living ovarian cancer to connect from anywhere in the country at any time of any day
$500 advances ovarian cancer research projects, funded jointly by the Cancer Research Society, which doubles your donation!, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honour her means everything. That’s why I’m participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope.
The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can help women with, or at risk of, ovarian cancer live fuller, better, longer lives.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, come out and join me. Together we can make a difference.
