In honour of my mum...Trish Tolkin Eppel
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. I am participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope for her.
I am honouring one incredible, strong, successful, brilliant, outstanding woman who is central to my family - my mum - and who continues to teach, lead, inspire and support us throughout her journey. I am honouring one amazing, selfless, funny, beautiful, exceptionally loving and nurturing woman who is my rock and role-model. I am honouring one courageous, compassionate, inspirational, generous, creative and determined woman - a woman whose love is felt by everyone lucky enough to know her and a woman who is cherished and admired by so many people around the world and especially those right here. There are no words to signify how lucky I am that my daughters and I have a part of her in each of us.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can help women with, or at risk of, ovarian cancer live fuller, better, longer lives.
Please help me honour my mum by providing your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, come out and join me. Together we can make a difference.
I love you mum.
