MarLen Super Warriors
Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope is the only walk in Canada to direct all attention and fundraising towards helping women with ovarian cancer live fuller, better and longer lives. The event raises vital funds to provide support, raise awareness and fund much needed research into prevention, improved treatments and ultimately, a cure so that we can change the future for the women we love.
This is our 8th year participating in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope after my sister, Maribel Dizon was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer last December 2011. She passed away last June 7, 2017 at the age of 57, after fighting with the disease for 5 ½ years. She was an inspiration to us and gave me courage and strengthen my faith when I was diagnosed with the same disease last September 2015. It was early detected and now cancer-free!
The same year (12 days after my surgery), I again participated at the walk together with my mom and sister from the Philippines, as well as my family and friends who started this walk with us 8 years ago. My co-workers at Nintendo of Canada Ltd. surprised me by showing up on the event, wearing their bright yellow Super Mario Maker shirts, who I thought were volunteers! We were awarded with the Top Team Spirit Award. Since then, Nintendo of Canada Ltd. has been very supportive to this mission.
Walk because the women in your life are important to you. Walk for those who have been touched by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope for a future without this disease.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Together we can make a difference! Better yet, if you are up for a challenge, come out and join MarLen Super Warriors, on Sunday, September 8 at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver at 9:00 am. Together we can make a difference.
Thank you and God bless.
