On Sunday, Sept 8, we will be participating in The Walk of Hope in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada.
Our family is walking in honour of Barbara Boyer, our daughter, sister, aunty, mom, niece, cousin and friend who lost a short battle with Ovarian cancer this past winter.
We’re walking to raise awareness and bring hope to women and their families & hope for a future without this disease.
Ovarian cancer is the 5th most common cancer for women and is by far the most serious of women’s cancers. Due to its difficulty to detect most diagnoses happen in the later stages making treatment less effective. Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with the disease. In 2017 alone, an estimated 2800 Canadian women were diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and an estimated 1800 lost their battle with the disease. Even with such a high mortality rate, Ovarian cancer is one of the most underfunded areas of cancer research.
Every dollar raised supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can help women with, or at risk of, ovarian cancer live fuller, better, longer lives.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Together we can make a difference.
We thank you in advance for your support.
