My sister, Janice, died of ovarian cancer in December of 2016, 3 months after the pictures included here were taken and 5 weeks before her 40th birthday.
Janice had never heard of ovarian cancer before she was diagnosed and started her five year rollercoaster battle. She learned quickly that she was not alone, awareness and funding for this disease is severely lacking. That is why she became involved with Ovarian Cancer Canada (OCC) Halifax; participated and volunteered in the annual walk, befriended and supported other women battling the disease, told her story and answered difficult questions at doctors symposiums, and represented as one of the “victims” of this horrible disease at fundraising events. But Jan refused to let herself be a victim. She fought for her health and a normal life to her last day
Jan always knew our fundraising would not improve her chances of survival but hoped it would improve the chances for other women in the future. I continue to fundraise to keep that alive for her.
Please consider donating to me or my team, JP's Crew. I'll be walking at the Halifax Waterfront on September 9th; join me!
