It's hard to believe but for the 15th year Wendy's Wynners will be part of the annual Walk of Hope. Teams across the country are preparing for local outings on Sunday, September 8.
Why do we continue to do this??
--There is still no cure for this disease, nor are the warning signs clear or understood. It's a silent killer. Many--too many--families live with this fight, with daily sadness and with haunting memories.
--1 in 70 women will die from ovarian cancer this year. It is the most dangerous of women's cancers.
--I served on the Ovarian Cancer Canada board for six years. It's a talented, devoted group of volunteers from across the country, guided by one of the best executive directors in the charitable community.
--Many of the breakthroughs in ovarian cancer treatment have come from Canadian research.
--Our team is a perennial leader, one of the top 5 in the country each year because of your thoughtful, generous support.
--Kirsten has established Wendy's Wynners in New York.
--And Wendy was one great lady. She would be proud of us.
So, once again or for the first time, please take a minute to pause in the rush of September and help create another flood of donations that WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
I thank you, again, with all my heart.
