Miles for Meicha

Team Miles for Meicha first joined this walk in 2016 as a way to honor our dear friend Meicha and to deal with the grief we felt for lossing her when she was so young, full of life and energy. It just wasn't fair, she was supposed to be building her own family, having beautiful babies. She was supposed to be at my wedding this past February looking beautiful standing beside me. I felt guilty for not being there for her & her family while she suffered. I knew I couldn't be there as we live a  five and a half hour flight away but it just doesn't make a difference. Participating in this walk made me feel better. So we will be doing this walk every year, to honor Meicha, raise funds for those fighting ovarian cancer today , and be an advocate to raise awarness for all the ladies in this world. I will use my little voice to tell every women the symptoms that are so hard to notice. I will raise money to get early detection as pap smears do not detect ovarian cancer and to let them know HPV vaccines do NOT prevent Ovarian cancer. And I will do my best to do it in a fun way as Meicha would have wanted.

So I do this not just for Meicha anymore, I do this for my girls who deserve a vaccine & early detection. I do this for my sisters, my mom, my aunts, cousins, neices, all my friends who are my family & tribe. All amazing ladies out there this is for you.

So thank you so much to all my donors, all my family and friends who donate and make our fundraising efforts a success.

Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.

This year’s goal is to raise $2.1 million. Every dollar we raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide much needed support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love. The women we love deserve early detection and screening.

Please provide your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, come out and join us! Together we can make a difference.

Xoxo
