This year the Ovarian Cancer Walk will be very different as we cannot walk as a Team. I do not believe in fundraising unless I "walk the walk". Therefore, I have measured out the distance around the Museum of Nature which is across from my place. 10 rounds on the inner sidewalk comes out to 5k.
I will be wearing a picture of Margie. The walk date is Sunday September 13th but if it is pouring rain on that date, I will defer walking until Sunday September 20.
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year. I am walking in memory of Margie Gass, a remarkable woman who left this life WAY too early. Margie was a Foreign Service officer who travelled around the world and raised three children with her husband. She had boundless energy and wonderful artistic ability as well as a kind heart. She worked tirelessly on behalf of Ovarian Cancer Canada in the Maritimes, even when she knew a cure would not come in time for her.
I realize that this has been a difficult year, financially for some of you affected by the COVID outbreak. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.
