My mom's story
December of 2016 our lives were changed forever. My mom received the news, she had been diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. So many questions ran through her head, mainly “why me?”. Ovarian cancer has little to no warning signs before it’s in the terminal stages. She was in for the battle of her life, literally. She went on to do chemotherapy and eventually even surgery. There were good days and bad. There were a lot of tears and anger. But she faced this disease with strength and determination. May 2017 she finished her chemo, rang the bell and we headed home to continue life. We continued to do what we do, shopping, pedicures, day trips. Life was normal again.... until May 2018. The day any cancer survivor dreads, the return of this ugly disease. So now it’s hospital visits, doctors appointments, and long days of tiredness and lounging. August 27 will be her last chemo treatment and she’ll ring that bell again. My mother is my best friend and I will walk beside her on September 9th to raise awareness for this ugly disease. So please any little donation helps. We need to have earlier warning signs for ovarian cancer.
Her journey came to an end on September 19 2020. My beautiful mom gained her angel wings 6 days after the 2020 Walk of Hope. She fought a good fight and never once thought about giving up. This year is for her! Let’s go Val’s Army!!!
