Bike Gang for the Baddies!
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honour her means everything. That’s why I’m joining the thousands of other participants at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope.
As some of you know we lost Mum to ovarian cancer in 2015. In the final years of her life she dedicated all her energy to raising awareness and funding for research. She was able to raise over $100,000 to fight one of the deadliest, and most under researched cancers women face today.
So In her honour I would love if we could pick up the torch and ride with it! In my mind there is no better way to do that than with a Bike Gang for the Baddies. A lovely afternoon of cycling with friends out to one of my favourite parks in Toronto, Colonel Sanders ( its actually Colonel Samuel Smith, but we bringing our own 11 herbs and spices). Its a 15k ride out where we will be met with a picnic, music, sports and general merry making! It would mean the world to me, my family, and all the women affected by Mum’s hard work if you would join on this escapade!
This is a fund raising ride for Margie’s Gang, a group of Mum’s friends and colleagues who started the organization to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Canada. This amazing group of men and women all worked in the foreign service and have held events in Mum’s honour across the world. From Ottawa to Beijing, these dedicated souls have worked tirelessly to keep the spirit alive.
Now its our turn.
All proceeds will go directly to Ovarian Cancer Canada, I hope you all will contribute and attend. Feel free to donate as much as you can, the sky is the limit. Minimum donation of $20 so we can make a real impact and get the ball rolling for the baddies!
If you are unable to attend, I hope you still consider donating. Every bit helps and I know the men and women in Margie’s Gang will be blown away to see so much support from a gang of youthful baddies in Toronto.
