Welcome to My Personal Page
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honour her means everything. That’s why I’m participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope.
The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease. Personally, I have a friend who at an early age was diagnosed of this disease. She was newly married and her husband and her were about to start their lives together. Then, the world seemed to stop for them. She was told that she had Ovarian Cancer and that they would need to operate to give her a chance to live! She would not be able to have children of her own. For a young couple starting out, this was devastating. They have made their way through those first days and months and she is now and still in remission. My prayers are that she stays healthy and that this ugly disease will not come back as it has already taken so much away from her and her family as well as so many other women, as mentioned above. This is why I walk! I walk for her but also for every women who has had to battle this horrible cancer. As a woman, I know it could be me or those woman in my life or any woman; so, I choose to join in doing something so simple, walk. This is how I show my support and how I hope to bring awareness to a Cancer that is not widely known.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can help women with, or at risk of, ovarian cancer live fuller, better, longer lives.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, come out and join me. Together we can make a difference.
