Welcome to My Personal Page
Let me just say - "I love being retired"!!!
However, that doesn't mean that I no longer care about ovarian cancer and the women that it impacts every day. So, I will be walking again this year but in Bayfield, just north of Grand Bend!
Maybe you would like to join me, in person or as a virtual walker?! If not, maybe you would like to make a donation? I am 181/2 years cancer free and grateful for that every day!
Here is some more information:
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 3,100 will be diagnosed this year. Many will die.
My job for the last 14 years was to provide support for these women through educational resources, personal connection and developing an online community where women across the country could connect in a new and intimate way. I also set up a program where women with ovarian cancer could be directly involved with ovarian cancer research to bring their perspective to the research teams and projects.
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar raised supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can help women with, or at risk of, ovarian cancer live fuller, better, longer lives.
Please give generously. Better yet, this year’s Walk will happen in communities large and small, all across Canada. It is a virtual event and you can join me! Together we can make a difference.
