Welcome to Emma's Fundraising Page!
As some of you may know, my friend Sarah was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year. Happily, she received absolutely amazing care at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital, and after surgery and six rounds of chemo, she is now in remission. As much as Sarah’s journey has been a painful and terrifying one, many many people aren’t so “lucky”. Ovarian cancer survival rates are much lower than other cancers that affect women, and it is the deadliest gynaecological cancer.
On September 12th, we will be surrounding our girl with a team of adoring friends and family to complete the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope. The walk will be taking place remotely this year, so each team can choose the walk they’d like to do. Sarah’s team will be retracing the route from her house in Little Italy up to Casa Loma - the exact walk that Sarah challenged herself with throughout her cancer treatment. Then we’ll be climbing Toronto’s iconic Baldwin Steps six times - once for each round of chemo that Sarah went through.
I would be totally thrilled if you would consider making a donation to our team to show your support for this incredible young woman and so many others like her.
Every dollar we raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. To make a secure, tax-deductible donation, click "DONATE NOW”. Your donation can help women with ovarian cancer and all women at risk of the disease live fuller, better, longer lives.
I think one of the scariest things about ovarian cancer is how often it goes undetected in its earlier, less lethal stages. Whether or not you’re able to donate right now, I encourage you to educate yourself (and your loved ones with ovaries!) on the warning signs: https://www.cancer.ca/en/cancer-information/cancer-type/ovarian/signs-and-symptoms
Thank you so much for your support!
