Afshan's Army, Chilliwack Branch
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
My amazing best friend started Afshan’s Army after her own diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2019. Along with her network of family and friends - her army - she started it to bring awareness, to give back and to find purpose in this journey she had found herself on. Devastatingly, Afshan passed away in September of 2021. You can read more about her incredible life (and the scholarship her family created in her name) here: https://futurefunder.carleton.ca/giving-fund/afshan-dar-brodeur-scholarship-for-excellence-in-economics/ She wanted us to continue her legacy, continue walking and raising money for Ovarian Cancer Canada in her memory, as Afshan’s Army.
That’s why our team is participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope. The Walk celebrates the hope we carry with us every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar we raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can change the future and help women live fuller, better, longer lives.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, come out and join us. Together we can make a difference.
