Welcome to Peggy's Page!

In Canada today, there are over 17,000 women living with ovarian cancer. Each of these women is central to a family, every one of these women have people who love her. This year, I am walking for HER - and I'm walking for ME.
See an interview about the walk here: https://youtu.be/1Zr5FZo8cV0
As you know I was first diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2014 - and exactly 4 years later was diagnosed with a recurrence. This is happy/sad news. Sad in that it came back, happy in that in the world of Ovarian Cancer, 4 years is an extraordinarily long time. There is just not enough good science yet to make this a consistent reality for my sister survivors - and let's face it - four years is a pretty low bar!
Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with yet another recurrence and I have been in treatment since January. BUT I have hope, a fantastic medical team with options for treatment and the most amazing community of support. And that includes you.
The money that we raise here goes towards improving outcomes for women with Ovarian Cancer. I have been on the receiving end of the benefits over the course of my 8+ years with Ovarian Cancer, so I thank you personally for making that happen.
Please join my Walk of Hope team this year as we continue to raise funds, awareness and hope.
Funds will be used to change the future of the women we love by:
- providing support to women diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and their families,
- increasing awareness and advocacy among the decision-makers,
- and funding vital research.
Ovarian Cancer Canada has been there for me in a deep and personal way, offering assistance and information, encouragement and an opportunity to get involved and make a difference. Every dollar we raise as Pickett's Parade supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
Please support my Walk by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, please join my team, Pickett's Parade, lace up your walking shoes on Sunday, September 11, 2022 - and step out in support! Go to the team page Pickett's Parade and sign up.
Together we can make a difference. #WalkForHerhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/416333880394132/permalink/454274566600063/
