This past year has been a challenging one for all of us but losing four more women in my life to Ovarian Cancer has made it exceptionally difficult. These women were mothers, partners, daughters, sisters, friends and part of a support village. A village I became a part of when I got my diagnosis in 2016.

So on Sunday, September 11th, I will be joining my teal sisters taking steps for a brighter future by participating in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope. We want to make a difference and further progress against Ovarian cancer, one of the most dangerous cancers for women. It is also known as “The Silent Killer,” because its’ presenting symptoms are often mistaken for other benign conditions and currently there is NO reliable early detection screening test..yet it kills five Canadian women daily.  The funding shortfalls in research have stalled scientific progress against this disease to the extent that outcomes have not improved in 50 years! Research is the only way to stop Ovarian Cancer.
