Walking For My Sister

In Canada today, there are 17,000 women living with ovarian cancer. Each of these women is central to a family, every one of these women have people who love her. This year, I am walking for HER.
I am walking because ovarian cancer affected my family and took my sister way before her time. It’s certainly touched my life, and it needs to be stopped. My sister Matilda lost her battle October 28, 2010; 12 years have almost passed and it doesn't make it any easier to accept that she is gone. She was a fantastic cook, created beautiful quilts, outfits for her granddaughter, and had a green thumb that could grow just about anything.
I walk to raise needed funds not only for research but for awareness so just maybe someone else's sister can be saved from this very terrible disease. Hope is what we have....so we must walk!
This walk is special to me because it honors women and families touched by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope that I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness and fund vital research.
Please support my Walk by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, please consider joining me. Together we can make a difference. Lets WALK to save lives and save our sisters!
