Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.

Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honour her means everything. That’s why we are participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada ‘Walk of Hope' in Ajax - and thanks to a never-ending pandemic we have now moved to a Virtual Walk.

My mom is one of these women who was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in May of 2018. She battled this ruthless disease – bravely enduring 6 rounds of chemotherapy and a massive cancer debulking surgery to remove all cancer in her abdomen. She is currently in a state of remission after winning a second fight with this relentless cancer. It returned during the pandemic and despite all the extra stress & anxiety - she beat it again! Now she is feeling ok while taking oral cancer medications to maximize the time between recurrences. 

Every dollar we raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.

The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a granddaughter and a friend to many. Myself, my 2 beautiful girls, my sister, 2 nieces, my grandmother and all my female friends and family are at risk for this devastating disease.
