Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year. 

You see and hear about these statistics and you never think that your sister will be one of the 2,800 diagnosed this year.  The sad reality is that she is now included in the statistic of one who will pass away because Ovarian Cancer.

Sadly my sister, Valerie Bell, passed away on September 19, 2020 while surrounding by her family.  However, she is with us and her presence is felt. Val was definitely one of the strongest women I have ever known other than my mother.  Mom taught us well.

The reason I am participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope is to give hope to each and every woman.

The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.

Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can help women with, or at risk of, ovarian cancer live fuller, better, longer lives.

I will be going to walk in the Barrie walk with many of my other family members subject to any travel restrictions.  However, walks are taking place all over Canada.
