Welcome to my personal page!
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her.
I am walking in memory of my best friend, who received an uncommon diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2019 and passed away from the disease in September of 2021. You can read more about her amazing life and also the scholarship her family endowed in her memory here: https://futurefunder.carleton.ca/giving-fund/afshan-dar-brodeur-scholarship-for-excellence-in-economics/
Incredibly, she organized the team “Afshan’s Army” while undergoing grueling treatment for the disease for 2 years. She wanted us to continue to walk and raise money for Ovarian Cancer Canada in her name.
This is the only national charity that champions the health and well-being of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease. Funds will be used to fund vital research, spur advocacy efforts, and provide support so that we can help women with, or at risk of, ovarian cancer live fuller, better, longer lives.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, come out and join me. Together we can make a difference.
