Hello Friends! It is September again, and this month is ovarian cancer awareness month. Last year we got rained out of our ride, but so many amazing people donated and I can’t begin to express my gratitude.

 I will be honest, last year I was a little ambitious in our activities, and want to keep it simple this time round. So in the spirit of good times for a good cause I'm hosting a BEACH PARTY on The Island! Saturday Sept 10th at Gibraltar point, I want to celebrate all you amazing people who contributed to the cause these last two years. 

I hope you all will contribute and attend. Feel free to donate as much as you can, the sky is the limit. Minimum donation of $20 so we can make a real impact and get the ball rolling.

If you are unable to attend, I hope you still consider donating. Every bit helps and I know the men and women of Margie’s Gang will be blown away to see so much support from a gang of spirited youths in Toronto.

Day of details are as follows: 

Show up whenever you like, It's an all-day affair, come and go as you please. There will be sports, drinks, music, and shade. I will be getting there around 10 AM to set up.

The spot is the OG Island location: Take the Centre Island ferry (if a pedestrian, cyclists can choose whatever) and walk out to the large main pier on the far side, then walk west. When you see the construction enter the beach behind Gibraltar point Artscape, the sport is just west of the breakwater. 

Background info on the cause and why it means so much: 

As some of you know we lost Mum to ovarian cancer in 2015. In the final years of her life, she dedicated all her energy to raising awareness and funding for research. She was able to raise over $100,000 to fight one of the deadliest, and most under-researched cancers women face today. 

This is a fundraising event for Margie’s Gang, a group of Mum’s friends and colleagues who started the organization to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Canada. This amazing group of men and women all worked in the Foreign Service and have held events in Mum’s honour across the world. From walks in Ottawa to galas in Hong Kong and Nairobi, these amazing people have worked tirelessly to keep the spirit alive.
