2022 Walk - Vancouver and Lower Mainland, BC

Never give up hope
Never give up hope

In Cathie's Honour

Over the past six years more than 100 people have participated “In Cathie’s Honour” in walks in Vancouver, Ottawa, Hamilton and Toronto.  We have raised awareness and over $33,000 in Cath's name.  In this, our seventh year, we are happy to be walking together again.

Cathie Hong-Louie fought ovarian cancer with stoic and staggering bravery for almost a year. At 57, in November of 2015, ovarian cancer took her life.

In Canada, this year some 3100 woman will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. More than half the women diagnosed will not live to see another five years. These survival rates haven't improved in 50 years.  Yet change is within reach.

There are now 250 scientists dedicated to improve ovarian cancer outcomes. Recently patient-partners, a role Cath certainly would have welcomed, work together to review, select proposals, and make research funding decisions.  To date, 42 research projects have been funded in key areas that aim to discover new treatments in labs, and move research studies from the lab testing phase into clinical trials.

Outreach to women and family doctors has increased in recent years too, arming them with potentially life-saving self-advocacy information to prevent ovarian cancer occurrences before they start.

Please join friends and family in honouring Cathie at this year’s Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope.

Please donate. Every little bit helps.
