In May 2023 I was diagnosed with a rare type of ovarian cancer (2-4% of all ovarian cancers) called granulosa cell tumor (GCT). After a successful surgery, the prognosis is good for me with monitoring for life as this type of cancer likes to come back!  Symptoms prior to surgery diagnosis (and for all women to be aware of) included ovarian pain, back / piriformis pain, bloating, constipation, fatigue, feeling unwell and bleeding.

Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer - the deadliest type of women's cancer - and approximately 3,000 will be diagnosed this year. I’m determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease.
