Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.

Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honor her means everything. That’s why I’m participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope.

The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease. I'm walking for all women and also for my granddaughters that better detection and cures are found and they never have to go through what I've been through.

Information about the walk can be found on the Walk of Hope 2023 Regina web page. The money raised has really helped ovarian cancer patients in Saskatchewan. I was fortunate to be able to attend a workshop this past winter and I was so pleased to hear from the head of our provincial lead for gynecologic oncology. She is amazing and has set up a clinical trial, the first for Saskatchewan, where they aim to improve treatment for ovarian cancer. This clinical trial is the first of its kind anywhere in the world. Your donation dollars have helped make this happen! Thank you.

This year’s goal is to raise $2.1 million. The last two years our team "Wheat Kings and Pretty Things has been recognized as in the top 100 fundraising teams in Canada. An honour only made possible by you, my wonderful supporters. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
