I am very happy to be participating in my 7th "Walk of Hope" this September 10th at Lake Ontario Park. Opening remarks start at 10 am and the Walk begins at 10:15. I thank my family and friends who come out to support this cause.
Today, thousands of women are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,000 will be diagnosed this year. I am one of these women.
There are 3 basic types of this cancer: Epithelial (most common, 85-95%), Germ cell and Stromal cell. I was diagnosed with Epithelial high grade serous, (fast growing) Stage 3C, with mets to the liver, stomach and peridoneal wall. During surgery the tumour spilled into the abdominal cavity. An Argon Beam was used to remove any visible cancer inside the cavity and surrounding organs. There were many complications during the chemo treatment but I am grateful to say, that as of yet, I have not had a recurrence. I am one of the lucky ones. So far. Why? Who knows. But because I am, I will walk the walk, inform other women of this disease and do what I can to help other women in this situation.
My wish for you, is to stay as healthy as possible, and if not, for you to have the help and support from your family and friends.
Thank you for your support. It means the world to me, and everyone affected by this disease.
Hugs and best wishes,
