Welcome to My Personal Page and Journey
In February 2023, a routine doctor’s check-up led to a 25cm ovarian mass. I had these ‘everyday symptoms’ that persisted for almost 1 month; to which I pushed off saying, “It will get better”. Some of these symptoms were indigestion and constant heartburn after meals and certain foods, making me think it was a digestive issue. The main symptom that led me to where I am was the absurd abdominal bloating, all persisting for about 1 month.
In March, surgery occurred and what was removed was later diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer called Mucinous Ovarian Cancer in April, 2023. Since then, I made it a priority of mine to become aware of the “everyday symptoms” I experienced, as well as to educate, advocate and empower women going through their own journey with cancer, and for the premise of women’s health.
As hard as it was to receive the news, it was in one way, an eye-opener to be grateful for all of life’s trials and tribulations. It was an eye-opener for me to begin listening to my body, and what it is telling me to do. It made me take the time to prioritize my health.
With that said, take that little time to book a routine checkup, praise your health, take the time today to say I love you to those who are in your corner, to go outside and appreciate nature, hang out with a family member or a friend, and be in the presence of gratitude!
Each day that passes, take it as a sign to do good, be good, and reflect that through your health and your life! From my journey, I have developed an immense sense of gratitude for everything that comes my way.
Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,000 will be diagnosed this year. It’s time to pick up the pace for ovarian cancer. Enough is enough and I’m determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease.
By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, I’m making ovarian cancer a priority. I'm funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.
The next big breakthrough in ovarian cancer is around the corner. If you are able to, please donate to my Walk! Together, we can improve outcomes – for good.
I would like to thank my team of doctors at Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre for their kindness, generosity, insights, compassion, and help during my journey. Having been diagnosed post-surgery with a rare form of ovarian cancer, each dollar donated can pave way for new forms of research and resources to improve the doctors like those by my side, to develop research based evidence on Mucinous Ovarian Cancer, and any form of ovarian cancer.
Thank you for your support. It means the world to me, and everyone affected by this disease. I am truly grateful that this journey was filled with all of the love and support from family and friends!
