Our Reason for Walking
Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,100 will be diagnosed this year. But today - we are paving the way for a brighter tomorrow.
Those of you who know myself or my family may know that at the end of 2021, we sadly lost my sister, Candice, to ovarian cancer. She fought so hard for 3 and a half years and her fight came to an end in December of 2021.
While we miss her so much every day, her memory is kept alive with photos, stories and our own personal memories of her. Candice was the toughest woman I've ever known, and even throughout her battle, she remained positive and optimistic. She handled life's most challenging moments with more grace than most could imagine. Since her diagnosis, her and her family maintained the belief and goal of having no regrets and living life truly to its fullest. We know she would want us to carry on with her in our hearts every day, and continue living both for ourselves and for her.
She is the reason we will walk in September. We will walk together in hopes that one day there will be more treatment options and perhaps even a cure. We will walk so that more women can continue to live life to it's very fullest the way that she did, and the way she wanted all of us to continue on.
