I will be walking in memory of Sheila, Lydia, Darlene, Debbie, Patrice, Pat, and Marian.
These women I am walking in memory of were mothers, partners, daughters, sisters, friends and part of a support village. A village I became a part of when I got my diagnosis in 2016.
So on Sunday, September 10th, I will be joining my teal sisters and walking shoulder to shoulder taking steps for a brighter future by participating in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope. We want to make a difference and further progress against Ovarian cancer, one of the most dangerous cancers for women. It is also known as “The Silent Killer,” because its’ presenting symptoms are often mistaken for other benign conditions and currently there is NO reliable early detection screening test..and kills five Canadian women daily. The funding shortfalls in research have stalled scientific progress against this disease to the extent that outcomes have not improved in 50 years! Research is the only way to stop Ovarian Cancer.
Every step and every dollar will help those living with ovarian cancer and all those at risk of the disease to live fuller, better, and longer lives.
The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day - the hope for a future without this disease. Can we please count on your support, together we can make a difference!
