Welcome to my personal page!
Val and I have been friends for over 45 years! Her strength and determination in her journey continually amazes me. I feel gratitude for this relationship and am so proud of how Val has conquered every single challenge that has come up during this 9-year journey. She is so courageous, and a positive role model for all the lives she touches. I have witnessed Val’s pain, tenacity and persistence. I am walking with Val again this year because this Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease
"9 years ago my life was forever changed. I learned I genetically carried the BRCA2 gene, which is a gene mutation for Breast and Ovarian Cancer. Proactively I underwent preventative surgery for a full hysterectomy only to find out that I already had ovarian cancer stage 3A. Another surgery, followed by 6 rounds chemo rendered me in a safe state. Two years after that another preventative surgery for breast cancer was my next step, …success!
This is where the importance of research comes in and the donations you so selflessly give to the cause. Lo and behold a new medication had just come off of a 10 year trial and I was a candidate! Within one month my numbers were coming down and my disease was “contained”
On Sunday, September 10, 2023 I will be joining my community to walk for all women and families affected by ovarian cancer. Help make a much-needed difference by donating to the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope or come out and join me and Val's Victorious Gals at the Walk.
Your donation can help women with ovarian cancer and all women at risk of the disease live fuller, better and longer lives.
Love Lori xo
