Welcome to My Personal Page
I joined Ovarian Cancer Canada two months ago and have been deeply moved by the incredible community of people impacted. I've been struct by the lack of awareness and attention this disease receives - ovarian cancer demands attention.
It is the most fatal women’s cancer. One in two women diagnosed will die within 5 years. There is no screening test for ovarian cancer. There are no reliable diagnostic tests for ovarian cancer. There are few treatment options, and survival outcomes have not changed in 50 years. Ovarian cancer has not benefited from the same progress seen in other cancers. Women deserve better. They deserve a future where ovarian cancer is preventable, curable, and ultimately eradicated; a future where they are free to pursue excellence, to be game-changers in their fields, and to build a better world for women and girls.
Ovarian Cancer Canada is the only national charity exclusively dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer. We will continue to boldly and unapologetically take action against ovarian cancer until the number of deaths from this disease is zero. We reject the notion that ovarian cancer can’t be eradicated. We are here to demand action, deliver change, and transform lives. We stand hand-in-hand with people experiencing, affected by, or at risk of the disease, and we will not rest until women are able to live their lives freely, fully, and uninhibited by ovarian cancer. We work hard every day supporting those affected by the disease, curating the most up to date and evidence-based scientific and clinical information, advocating with provincial and federal governments and other powerful decision-makers, and driving ovarian cancer research in Canada faster than ever before.
The difficult reality of this disease is such that those diagnosed are often too sick – or do not live long enough – to bolster an advocacy movement. Therefore, ovarian cancer is a cause in critical need of champions.
Please consider making a donation because there simply just isn't time to wait. Together we can improve outcomes - for good.
