Sayers Walk For Hope

This summer I was diagnosed with stage one Ovarian Cancer and endometriosis. At the ripe age of twenty one years, I had to think and consider a lot. How will this change and affect the course of my life? How much time do I have? Will I ever be able to have kids if I beat this? And a big one currently is, If I beat this, will it come back?

I am proud to say that I am currently in remission, and as far as we know, "cancer free". However, I currently still live in constant anxiety as the chances of it returning are high and I have been affected heavily mentally and physically beating this stupid cancer thing.

I never knew about ovarian cancer, and as someone who has ovaries, I have always found that there has been an extreme lack in educational resources and information regarding the overall female body. There is such an extreme stigma surrounding womens bodies, that we will often go undiagnosed leaving it for things to only worsen.

My goal is to do more than just raise money, but to also raise awareness. I want to raise awareness for those struggling alone in this battle (as I did), and to let other people know that I am here. I will fight with you, for you, and along side you. Lets make this happen and walk together.

Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,000 will be diagnosed this year. It’s time to pick up the pace for ovarian cancer. Enough is enough and my team is determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease.

By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, we’re making ovarian cancer a priority. We’re funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.

Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.

The next big breakthrough in ovarian cancer is around the corner. Please donate to our team or join us! We welcome new members, there’s strength in numbers! Together, we can improve outcomes – for good.

Thank you for your support. It means the world to us, and everyone affected by this disease.
