4x4x48 - Sunrise Sessions for Carol Lee McInnis
Welcome to my first Sunrise Session. I decided to start this event as a way to honour my mother-in-law Carol Lee McInnis, who passed away on January 20, 2021 after being diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer 15 months prior.
Every day thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year. This fundraiser honours women and families touched by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope that I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
On 5th March 2021 I will take on the 4x4x28 challenge. The 4x4x48 challenge includes running four miles at the top of every four hours, for 48 hours. This will result in running 48 total miles over the course of 48 hours. The 4x4x48 was inspired by retired Navy Seal and ultrarunner David Goggins.
I'm also wanting to honour the legacy of one of my best friends who also recently passed of cancer: Nick Havemann. Nick was a BEAST and would have loved to do this challenge with me. However hard this is for me I can't help but think of how much Nick would love to have the chance to embrace that hardship over what he went through: all day, every day.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the Canadian charity championing the health and wellbeing of women with ovarian cancer and those at risk for the disease, while advancing research to save lives. Funds will help further scientific progress, advocacy efforts and support programs.
Please support this event, whether its $5 or $500, every amount can help make a difference.
