A Breath of Fresh Hair - Changing the Narrative

** Thanks to you and your amazing and generous hearts, we've surpassed our audacious goal of $10,000 raised! Anyone who knows Ann, knows that when she reaches one goal, she finds a new one to reach for, which means that we are pushing forward towards an even more audacious goal of $20,000!! Your words and actions continue to inspire and energize and we couldn't be more grateful for the love you've shown both Ann and all the women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Thank you.**

Half of the women diagnosed with ovarian cancer don’t survive past the five year mark. That statistic alone is terrifying, for each patient and everyone who loves them. Together we can change that story, and fund research into early detection and specialized treatment to extend the life expectancy of the 3,100 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year in Canada.

‘A BREATH OF FRESH HAIR’ is our family’s head-shaving fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Canada. Andrew and my sister Kathryn, together with our twins Danger & Daring, are spearheading an online campaign to raise $10,000 for early detection, with Andrew, Kathryn and me all being shorn at a celebratory public head-shaving at Fort Common (1019 Blanshard Street) on Saturday April 9th, from 1-2:30pm. The kids will do the honours so they are especially excited! (Please e-mail squiresferguson@gmail.com if you would like to attend in person and celebrate changing the narrative with us.)

Let’s make this horrible circumstance we all find ourselves in mean something, and change the narrative for the next woman diagnosed. Let’s take control of losing our hair and create a celebration of life and love instead.

~ Ann Squires Ferguson
