In support of Ovarian Cancer Canada

Remembering Jean Jordan
Remembering Jean Jordan

IN MEMORY OF JEAN ALICE JORDAN

Jean lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer on October 13, 2016.   She fought very hard for 5 1/2 years but in the end this devastating disease won.  Jean organized the first Walk of HOPE in Duncan B.C. in 2011.

Here is her story:  She was originally diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer in April 0f 2011, however, she had been feeling tired and just not well for a few years prior but the Dr. could not find a reason.  She underwent surgery in June of 2011 and then started her first round of chemo shortly thereafter.   Along with her chemo she also did a natural regiment of vitamins etc.  She endured 4 or 5 different rounds of chemo and also engaged in a study treatment which did not work for her.   She wanted very badly to defeat this disease and was very broken when she realized it was getting the better of her.   She was a strong and determined woman and her attitude carried her beyond the Doctors expectations.  She felt very strongly about getting the word out to "ALL" woman to be diligent about asking their Doctors to do at least a CA 125 blood test.

In Canada today, there are 17,000 women living with ovarian cancer. Each of these women is central to a family, every one of these women have people who love her.

In Jean's own words prior to the Walk of Hope in September 2016:

"I am walking because ovarian cancer affects communities. It’s certainly touched my life, and it needs to be stopped.

This walk is special to me because it honours women and families touched by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope that I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.

Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness and fund vital research.

Please support my Walk by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, please consider participating in the Walk of Hope. Together we can make a difference.

THANKYOU"

In Lieu of flowers, Jean's family has requested donations to this cause.
