The Sue Deacon Cup

Update on this year's event

Dear Donors and Participants,

Due to the temporary closing of Bill Bolton Arena for major renovations starting soon, we are unable to hold our annual Sue Deacon Cup this year. However, we are pleased to announce that we are returning in 2019 and that we have already booked the ice at Bill Bolton for April 12th and 13th, 2019.

The Sue Deacon Cup has been a runaway success in raising both awareness as well as almost $450,000 so far, for important cancer research, and we could not have accomplished any of this without your support. We thank you for your participation last year and we hope to see you out on the ice at next year's tournament in 2019.

Warm Regards,

Sue Deacon Cup Organizing Committee

About the Sue Deacon Cup

Last year the Sue Deacon Memorial Cup raised over $110,000 in support of the Sue Deacon Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. In the past four years, the event has raised over $447,000.Thank you to the women and men who come out to play and raise funds as well to the sponsors and donors who have helped to make this tournament such a resounding success.

This year in Canada, 2,800 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and half will not survive past five years. In 2016, the Sue Deacon Cup Committee and Ovarian Cancer Canada created the Sue Deacon Ovarian Cancer Research Fund to help improve the outcomes for those women. All proceeds from this year’s tournament will go directly into the fund where researchers are working to develop early detection techniques, improved treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
