Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
June 20, 2015

The impact of ovarian cancer isn’t limited to women who are diagnosed. The disease has a profound impact on families. Brian and his daughter, Meaghan, Walk for HER to honour Myrna.

“The fact that there’s still no test makes it important for us to turn all our emotions and energy to making a change,” says Brian Bentley. “And we can never give up. I don’t want anyone else to be affected by ovarian cancer.”

Brian’s wife Myrna was posthumously recognized with top fundraising honours for Saskatoon at last year’s Walk. Both he and daughter Meaghan received the award on her behalf.

“Being a cancer survivor myself, I know how important support is,” says Brian. “At the Walk, there’s strength in numbers and there’s encouragement for women and families who have been touched by the disease.”

Brian and Meaghan plan to lead the OV Buddies Team again this year. They’ll be joined by family, friends and colleagues.

“It’s a meaningful way for me to get together with my dad and do something in Mom’s name,” says Meaghan. “If we can help change someone else’s outcome, Mom would want that as her legacy, and we’re doing it for her.”
