About

Why Fundraise?

Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 3,000 will be diagnosed this year.

Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honor her means everything. That’s why it is important to do something.

Your support honours women and families touched by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope for a future without this disease.

Every dollar raised supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to advance research, advocacy efforts, and support programs to help women with ovarian cancer and all those at risk of developing the disease to live fuller, better, longer lives.

About Ovarian Cancer Canada

Ovarian Cancer Canada champions the health and wellbeing of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease while advancing research to save lives. This national charity is affecting important changes to help women live fuller, better and longer lives.

What Your Money Supports

These are some of the initiatives powered by donations you gather through your fundraising activities:

Funding vital research

Tissue banks that have helped facilitate recent research breakthroughs, such as the discovery that ovarian cancer is not one but several diseases that respond differently to treatment and have varied outcomes

Grants for research on ovarian cancer. These grants are jointly funded by the Cancer Research Society as part of a partnership that has already resulted in a record number of successful applications for ovarian cancer research

Advocating for more research funding

Opportunities that empower thousands of concerned Canadians to write to their federal elected representatives about the need for more ovarian cancer research funding

Meetings that bring researchers, women and families living with ovarian cancer through the corridors of power to share their stories with national decision makers

Supporting women living with the disease

An online community, called OVdialogue, where women with ovarian cancer can ask questions, give and get advice, and meet others who can relate to their experiences firsthand

By Your Side and Still By Your Side are comprehensive guides to support and inform women who are newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer or facing recurrence of the disease

Expert-led symposia and webinars on specialized topics that connect and inform the community
