Welcome to my personal page!

My name is Karen and when I turned 50 years old in 2012 , I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. There was no cancer in my family, so I was shocked. In the years after, I wasn't feeling well from time to time. At first they thought it was fibroids . After many appointments, it was confirmed. In 2015, I had stage 3C Ovarian Cancer.
I never knew of the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer but when I read up on them, I had most of them. When you get a cancer diagnosis, it not only affects you, but the ones we love. My husband, Mike, my rock of 33 years and our wonderful children Miranda and Nicolas, I will be forever grateful to them and to many extended family and friends that were there for me with their love and support along the journey of surgery, treatment and beyond.
So on Thursday, January 7, 2021, as I celebrate my 5 year anniversary as an Ovarian Cancer Survivor, I've decided to donate my hair on Wednesday, March 17 with the help of the staff at Scizzions Salon and Spa Destinations. Thank you to all that can support Ovarian Cancer Canada
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honor her means everything. That’s why I am supporting this vital cause.
This event is special to me because it honours women and families touched by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope that I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the Canadian charity championing the health and wellbeing of women with ovarian cancer and those at risk for the disease, while advancing research to save lives. Funds will help further scientific progress, advocacy efforts and support programs.
Please support this event with a generous donation. Together we can help women live fuller, better and longer lives.
