How do I start an event?
Fundraising for OCC by creating an event online is simple and fun! To get started, choose your event on the Create an event page and follow the next steps to customize your fundraising page. If you’ve been involved with OCC before, chances are that you already have a username and can log in as a returning supporter. If you are joining the OCC community for the very first time, join as new to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
I’d prefer to create an event and fundraise offline, without a webpage. How do I go about it?
There are plenty of ways to ignite a fundraiser for OCC. To start an event without using our website, please contact the team at diy@ovariancanada.org and we can guide you through the basics, explain tax receipting rules, and provide further resources.
How do I join an existing event?
It’s easy to join an event online and ignite for OCC. Search for the event name and click “Join.” If you’ve been involved with OCC before, chances are that you already have a username and can log in as a returning supporter. If you are joining the OCC community for the very first time, join as new to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
Can a friend join my event to help fundraise?
Absolutely! There’s strength in numbers and the more participants in your event can increase the amount of funds you can raise. Simply, send them the link to your event page and ask them to click “Join event.”
How do I promote my event?
Glad you asked! There are plenty of ways to rally support for your event. By fundraising for OCC, you become a champion for this cause and will get access to our tips, tools, and event templates that are easy to use and make fundraising simple and fun. What if I forget my username or password?
This happens to the best of us! You can retrieve your username or password in a few simple steps.
- Go to the login page
- Click “Forgot username” or “Forgot password”
- Enter your email address
- Check your inbox for an email. These messages can occasionally end up in spam or junk mail folders, so please be sure to have a look.
What is the Participant Centre?
The Participant Centre is the go-to place to stay up to date with your event, find tips and tricks, and rally support. In the Participant Centre you can:
- Customize your fundraising and event pages
- Import your contacts and send fundraising, recruitment, and thank you emails in a few easy clicks
- Set your personal and event fundraising goals and track your progress
- Add offline donations to see them in your overall fundraising tally

How do I send a fundraising email from my Participant Centre?
To unlock this feature of fundraising, you must donate at least $5 to your event. Once you unlock this feature, fundraising emails are a simple way to connect with your friends, family, and colleagues, and solicit donations. Here’s how you send fundraising emails from your Participant Centre:
- In your Participant Centre, choose the “Email” tab
- Select “Other,” then “Create your own”
- Enter your subject line in the “Subject” field
- Write your message
- Select “Next” and list recipients. You can enter email addresses manually or select them from your Address Book
- Select “Next” and then press “Send”
- Save your message as a template to use it again later

To make it even easier, you can also use a pre-written email! If you’d prefer to use a pre-written email, here’s how:
- Sign in to your Participant Centre and choose the “Email” tab
- Choose the type of email you wish to send, then select “Next”
- Customize the subject and body text as you wish
- Select “Next” and list recipients. You can enter email addresses manually or select them from your Address Book
- Select “Next” and then press “Send”
- Save your message as a template to use it again later
Do donors receive tax receipts?
Absolutely! Charitable tax receipts are issued for donations of $20 or more.
Online donors receive electronic tax receipts as soon as their donations are processed. Should there be a delay, please be sure to check any spam or junk folders associated with the email address provided as these emails can be tagged incorrectly by your email provider. Those donating by cash or cheque will receive tax receipts by February 28 of the calendar year that follows the year of the donation at the latest.

Why wasn’t my credit card accepted?
Please check that the credit card number, expiry date, and cardholder name are entered exactly as they appear on the card. Kindly note that Visa Debit cannot be accepted at this time.
